We love our smoothies! They can be eaten at anytime of day for a fast and healthy energy boost. You can create your own fruit smoothie recipes from your favorite fruits. Fruits are high in antioxidants and rich in enzymes. Anti-oxidants are a collection of enzymes, vitamins and minerals that help to protect the body from the formation of free radicals. Free Radicals are groups of atoms that can cause damage to our DNA causing premature aging, degenerative diseases and impair our immune system. Freshly made smoothies are packed with antioxidants.. A smoothie made with fresh fruit will provide the body with many nutrients that are missing in a diet that is based on cooked food.
We believe that healthy smoothies are created using a combination of fresh fruit and a good source of vegetable protein. If you want to create breakfast smoothies that provide you with energy for hours, combine your fruit with soy or almond milk. Soy milk is a great addition to a smoothie because it is high in isoflanones. 1 cup of soymilk contains about 20 gms of isoflavones. Isoflavones are basically chemicals that have a very similar composition to the hormone estrogen. Isoflavones play an important function in a healthy diet because of their ability to reduce cholestoral levels, preventing oseteoporosis, prevention of many cancers and reducing symptoms of menopause. If you want to create healthy smoothies that are rich in calcium then almond milk might be a better option for you. Almond milk is also very high in magnesium, potassium and Vitamin E. You can buy almond milk from a store or you can make it yourself.

It is important for vegetarians and vegans to get a good amount of vegetable protein everyday. Almond and soy milk are excellent sources of protein for a vegetarian/ vegan diet and you can alternate them in your smoothie recipes to receive the benefits of both.
